Greater Omaha Chamber Goes “Green” with Online and Mobile Directory

(Omaha, NE) — The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce membership directory is now online and ready for Internet users to access, according to RuthAnn Manley, Director – Communications at the Chamber.

The online directory was created from the Chamber’s membership database using convergence publishing technology provided by Village Profile™, which has published published the Greater Omaha Chamber’s annual magazine, Omaha: Extraordinary Opportunities since 2007. The premier print edition included a membership directory; subsequent editions will have an online, “green,” paperless directory.

Village Profile™ CEO/President Dan Nugara explains that, “Posting the Greater Omaha Chamber membership directory online, which was 168 pages in print, saves a staggering 177,200 sheets of 11 x 17 paper, which is the equivalent of a little more than 41 trees.”

Anyone with an Internet connection via computer, smart phone, laptop computer or other mobile device can readily access the online Greater Omaha Chamber membership directory, at www.villageprofile.com/nebraska/omaha/directory/index.html or visit the online directory via your web-enabled phone at www.vpmobile.us and direct-dial and/or connect to member websites instantly.

The Chamber directory is searchable by business category. Entries include members’ website, phone number and physical street address.

“We are always looking for ways to provide more benefits to our members and this online directory is certainly one of them,” said Manley. “The Village Profile™ Network Website receives more than two million hits per month. Those visitors now have direct access to the members of the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.”

Village Profile™, which observes its 22nd anniversary in 2010, was the first Chamber publisher to replicate its community profile, membership directories and maps online. It introduced multi-platform convergence publishing to the Chamber industry in 2002, with traditional print augmented by publication websites, free NewView eBook™ downloads, CDs, and mobile business directories accessible via wireless handhelds.
